A county health nurse recommended mayonnaise. I didn't see how it could work, but the child had so many nits it was impossible to pick them all off. As a last resort I tried the mayonnaise. It was unbelievable how it worked. All the nits were gone. We coated the dry hair completely and then wrapped the head with plastic wrap. Left it on 30 min. You could leave it on all night. Repeat as often as necessary. Be sure and spray all furniture, wash all bed clothes, coats, and hats. Put stuffed animals in plastic bags for 30 days. Hope this helps.
