In reply to your message I was diagnosed with PCOS about 6 years ago and there is no family history of the condition as far as we know. Last year my doctor put me on Metformin which is a diabetic drug in order to control the increase in insulin and the hormone levels and it is working. Since starting on the drug I have lost 1 stone in weight without really trying so I suppose if I really tried dieting I would possibly lose more weight. One diet that I do find useful is the Slimming World diet where you do not mix proteins with carbohydrates on the same day. Further info can be found on their website at www.slimming-world.co.uk I hope this is of use to you and I wish you success with trying to lose weight as I know how difficult it is when you have PCOS.
