I have a book that I really like, and that has been helpful to me in the past. It is called Prescription for Nutritional Healing by James F. Balch, M.D. and Phyllis A Balch, C.N.C. (It's the 2nd edition. Among other things, for all types of arthritis, the book recommends eating more sulfer containing foods, such as asparagus, eggs, garlic and onions. Sulfur is needed for the repair and rebuilding of bone, cartilage and connective tissue, and aids in the absorption of calcium. Also good are green leafy vegetables. Eat rice, wheat and rye-these contain the amino acid histidine which is good for removing excess metals from the body which many people with arthritis have high levels of in their bodies. Eat fresh pineapple frequently. An enzyme in it, called Bromelain, is excellent for reducing inflammation. The pineapple must be fresh as canning or freezing destroys enzymes. The book also does say to avoid citrus fruits as well as salt and sugar. All of this comes from the book that I mentioned above. There is also a lot more about all types of arthritis in it, so you may want to try and find it. I hope this helps!
