Sharon...Believe what your husband tells you. It is absolutely the most severe pain you can imagine...hot, searing crippling pain.I went to bed as a healthy old lady of 75 one night and woke up the next morning with pain that I didn't think anyone could have unless they were injured. My husband had to help me out of bed...I was crying and moaning so that he didn't understand what was happening to me....no blood, no injury, no sign that he could see that could be doing this to me, It is like being attacked by a grizzly bear You feel so helpless and frustrated because you can't do anything. It really drains you of strength, energy, ambitition...you have all the symptoms of depression...but, because I am naturally a happy person, I know that those who have a tendency to be "down" a lot, would have a lot of problems that I wouldn't. My rhuematologist gave me some pretty strong pain pills at first, then when I took the Prednisone, I discoverd that if you take that and Percocet at the same time you have psycbotic reations..l cried all the time until I discoveredwhat was causing it...You have to be careful what meds you are mixing. I know it mustbe difficult to have to cope with his pain and seemingly self-centeredness but believe me, Honey, the fella is suffering with a capital S. Give him time and he will learn how to cope. I am taking 2 mg of Medrol now and a couple of Darvocet a day...and a couple of Equinal at night. Nighttime is the worse time..between 2 and 6 o'clock is awful...Be patient.. be brave....be sweet...
