Hi. I am 28 years old I have been diagnosed 4 DVT in the past three years (last episode occurred in August 1999). I have been instructed to take 4 mg. of Coumadin for life, due to the recurrent episodes and the fact that I suffer from Antiphospholid Syndrome. My husband and I are planning to have a baby next year, but there seems not to be a unanimous criterion among doctors about treatment of DVT during pregnancy. Some doctors recommend to switch from Coumadin to light molecular heparin injections daily from the time we start looking to get pregnant till delivery. Others, however, recommend to keep on Coumadin for as long as the pregnancy lasts. I am concerned about side effects of Coumadin to the baby and would therefore like to know if there is someone out there who has been treated for DVT during pregnancy. Any experience will help. Thank you and I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Lorena
