It sounds like you do have a gallstone, particularly as you describe the pain going through to your back. Gallstone pain has been referred to as 'the exquisit pain' because it is so sharp, pure and all-absorbing - while it's there, you can think of nothing else! Ask your doctor to refer you for a sonar scan so they can see if there are stones.
