My daughter had the same problem and I took her to a specialist who put her on a medication called lactolose. Since then I have found a stool softner with a very mild laxative in it that works even better. The doctor said that if I could keep her bowels soft for a time that her colon would shrink back down and that she would probably grow out of it.
