Hi Helen, I have had spasmodic toricollis since 2001 & have had botox injections, 330 units every 3 months since 2002. The injections are given using an electro magnetic guidance machine, with varying degrees in results. But for the most part have found EMG gives better results than not using it. The effectiveness of the EMG also depends on the skill of the user - a previous neurologist used it for a year without the present success. I have tried various drugs and treatments, however botox works the best for me. Yes, peoples reactions/comments can be unhelpful. I have never drunk alcohol often or excessively. I do find that a couple of drinks can improve the condition at the time. However, I find it may be worse the following day. www.spasmodictorticollis.org/ site provides some interesting information. Thanks for the Qigong suggestion.
