I have a son with ASPD and it has negatively affected every area of my life. I knew from the time he was 2 there was something not quite right, but the anti-social part really didn't begin manifesting itself until late middle school. All the psychiatrists, social workers and psychologists, including a supportive family, couldn't save him from himself. Watching him move from job to job, not be able to stay in school, lie, manipulate others and steal has been heart-wrenching. You must realize there is nothing you can do other than set firm limits and know when to distance yourself to save yourself. As for me, I have now detached myself from him--the less I know the better off I am. I just hope someday I am able to feel "happy" again, it's been a long, painful road.
