Mary, I just found out on Friday that I have CMV after exhaustive tests. My ImG level is 9.3!!!! I have been very sick and admitted to the hospital for 6 days with hives for no known reason. Any type of infection cold, etc. has turned into a major event. New info that I have found is that CMV can cause your immune system to be suppressed. Earlier info only said that persons with already suppressed immune systems (HIV, Cancer patients) were at real danger. I had 4 units of blood after surgery 3 years ago, and have been fatigued, etc. since then. Now I find out they don't even test for this virus in blood donors. Since my bout with the hives, I am now experiencing severe tachycardia, erratic blood pressure and my liver is enlarged. More research has told me that it can affect any major organ in your body. I suggest that you go to an infectious disease specialist particularly considering the line of work you are in. Good luck.
