Ken Walker
Unfortunately, I don't have a solution yet. We are in the same situation as I too have a 7-year-old with the UBC in the same location. We've visited three doctors, two of whom said we shouldn't use her brace anymore since it either does no good (to prevent another fracture) or could even inhibit the return of proper motion. Probably like you, we are trying to figure out what to do--bone marrow, continued steroid injection (we did one) or nothing. Again, we got differing opinions for each. I think we are leaning towards a bone marrow injection, however. While doctors say that either the steroid or bone marrow injections are quick and the child should recover quickly, we don't buy it. My daughter was using the walker for two months after the steroid injection. Given the choice between the two, it seems a more natural approach would be best, hence our preference for the bone marrow. No answers, but I empathize with you. Good luck!
