At the age of 23 Heart disease is not a disease you think can effect you. So you can imagine how stunned I was when I had suffered a massive heart attack. I was out jogging as I did every morning when I started to feel ill. I sat down to rest when I felt my "indigestion" start. I rested a while then started back. The pain got worse on the walk home so I go my girlfriend to drive me to my doctor. My doctor examined me and found that my pulse was fast and irregular so she sent me to the ER where I had an EKG, chest X-ray and blood tests done. The doctor told me that I was lucky to have come to the ER so quickly as I had suffered a mild heart attack. Later that night in the CCU I started to have chest pains again only this time worse than before. I called the nurse who called the crash team. When I woke up the cardiologist told me that I had suffered another much more serious heart attack. They had performed Angioplasties on 2 arteries. He went on to tell me tha I have a genetic condition that means that my cholesterol is extremly high. This happend last month so I'm still adjusting to life with heart disease. I hade to change alot of things to accomodate my condition. I am recovering well bu I have a long way to go.
