I had the same thing twice. My Dr. explained to me the skin covers the whole body and any scrape is an opening for infection. Just takes a small thing to make mine come back so I watch every little thing and put medicine on it. He calls mine a chronic skin infection and said I could loose my leg if it did not heal up and was not a small thing. So far so good as I catch everything quickly. I took antibiotics as well as used an ointment. Hope this helps.Sherry
