When my children were younger, I read in a medical self-help book to take a cotton ball dipped with warm salt water and gently rub it on the eyelid, allowing the saline solution to touch the tear duct and moist lining of the eyelid. Be sure to use a different cotton ball for each eye to prevent infecting one eye to another. I have used this technique often (do it twice a day, morning and at night) and it works like a charm, quickly and easily. And best of all....it's free!
