My mom has breast cancer ;-(

Dear Dawn, I am so very sorry to hear that your Mom has breast cancer. I just lost my Mom in Feb. to breast cancer that went to her bones. She was diagnosed when she was 56, but the doctor estimated it took about 10 years for the tumor to grow as large as it was, it was hard to find it under her chest wall. After her mastectomy, she was not offered and chemo or radiation. Now, this was in 1990. Last year her sister had a masectomy and immediately after was given chemo for about 6 months to be sure. My Mom had cancer in her lymph nodes, my Aunt did not. Aunt is now fine, no trace of cancer. So I guess different doctor's have their views about helping their patients to survive. Unfortunatly, my Mom was told she did not need a cancer doctor, then her cancer returned or came out in her hip area, then eventually to the bones. I would've liked her to have been treated after surgery thereby making her chances of the disease returning less. Good luck to you both. I know from experience that it is very hard to be a caretaker. Remember, your Mom is in God's hands, I will say my prayers for you. Sincerely, Kathie
