Hi jan, I don't know a lot about prednisone. I have taken it a couple of times. the take so many one day and taper off deal. I do know it causes osteoporarosis. Mom already has that very bad., so I don't know if thats an option. How is your mom doing? what has the doctors told her? have they been able to tell which kind she has? How is her cancer doing? Did removing part of the lung help as far as the cancer goes. I pulled Pulmonary fibrosis up on the computer on several different places. they all say the same thing. Its very scary. Mom has had a lot of problems for a long time. I moved her in with me and my husband last Oct. She had 7 epesodes of congestive heartfailure from oct -jan. there was a lot of times i didn't think I would bring her home. The doctor that was caring for her in the hospital found that the med she was on for her heart was poisioning her system. After he took her off of it, she did better. now this.Mom never smoked,but dad did. she also worked in a manufactoring plant all her life. Dad has been dead for 35 yers. Sh started having problems about 5 years ago. I understand you don't know you have it untill the symptoms appear. She has all of the symptoms of ipf. We will know more tues.
