Hi, I was diagnosed with Poiymyalgia Rheumatica in January of 2001, and I am presently on 10 mg of Prednisone, with the plan of reducing the dose to 7.5 mg next week. I am doing quite well on this program. However, I look forward to a lower dose of the Prednisone as soon as possible, so as to avoid the side effects that come with a lengthy time on this medicine. My rheumatologis plans on starting me on a steroid sparing drug called Methotrexate in a dose of 7.5 mg a week, in order to get the Prednisone reduced or eliminated by this summer. I have a lot of faith in my doctor, and I feel lucky to have hime. Good luck to all of you who have this disorder.
