I had my first episode of eczema when I was in college. At that time, i was given cortisone creams (they did nothing) and finally had shots on my hands (VERY painful and uneffective). I have been in remission more than my eczema has been active which is good news. I have never found the source. It errupts from within and is only on my hands. I am having my first episode in about two years. It is so painful....I find it difficult to do the simplest things with my hands..to grasp anything is almost unbearable...writing with a pen brings tears to my eyes. At night, my hands just throb. They crack open and bleed. I wish for a cure. I have damaged nerve endings on 4 of my fingers from previous bouts, and they no longer have feeling in them. Is there anything that works? Really works? I know that eventually this will go back into remission, but for the moment it's hell.
