I can sympathise with you, my son was admitted to hospital when he was 11 months old with low platelets, over the following days all of his blood lines dissapeared until he needed a blood transfusion and two lots of platelets. The specialists couldnt give us a diagnoisis, their thoughts ranged from leukemia though to HIV. He is now 22 months old and we still havnt had a diagnosis and over the last few months his blood lines have recovered without any further intovention, now they have found from a bone marrow sample that he has monosomy 7 (meaning that he has one of the two chromosone no 7 missing but only in about half of the sample.) They are saying that this could turn into myodisplaslia which may turn into leukemia (AML). Our comfort at the moment is that he is VERY well and has been throughout even when he was very neutropenic and anaemic, and that we have our second sons stem cells stored so that should he need a bone marrow transplant we have a match. Throughout all of this countless doctors have been baffled all around the world. Good luck to you and remember however difficult it is in such a small baby the oral health care such as mouth washes and nyastatin are a great way of preventing germs in her mouth turning into somthing more nasty.
