Hi! I just had to reply. I have a son that had the very same thing. by the time he was 4 he had already had almost every test a person could have. I spent most of my time calculating how many days it would be until he had his next bowel movement. The child stayed on mineral oil (on and off) for about 3 or 4 years, while giving him a supplement vitamin 12 hours inbetween his doses of mineral oil to replenish the vitamins the mineral oil strip out of his system. The doctors were dumbfounded because they could not find a medical reason for his chronic constipation, and came to the conclusion it was mental, meaning he was traumatizing him self over having a bowel movement. He would go as far as to hide behind a door or in a corner when he was about to go. My son, Corey, is now 11 and going in the 6th grade. He still goes very infrequently and has what looks lake an enlarged stomach, but the doctors say "healthy as a horse". So, do what you can, don't let her see you get upset or make a big fuss over her going to the bathroom, for this may make it a larger problem in her mind. The mineral oil won't really hurt her, as long as she takes a multi-vitamin. And as far as the fruits and veggies go, they didn't so anything for Corey. He is my veggie child(loves broccoli more than chocolate) but it didn't seem to make a difference. Hang in there! If you ever need support, please e-mail me!! Been ther, done that!
