I was diagnosed with IC in my mid thirties, however, I'm sure that I had it most of my life. I was never correctly diagnosed with the numerous male urologists who would either give me antibiotics or would dialate me , which of course made matters worse. I finally went to one of two female MD's in NJ--Dr. Kathleen Murphy, who finally diagnosed me correctly. I was treated with DMSO a few years ago successfully, however, the symptoms have returned. I am currently being treated with a new drug therapy called BCG that is administered the same way and is supposedly better. I have changed my diet completely by avoiding all spicey foods, caffeine, and alcohol etc. Sex seems to be a thing of the past since it is painful for me. The internet does offer alot of information.
