Our 4 1/2 year old son does not have a medical diagnosis of autism but has an educational diagnosis of a child with autistic characteristics and he is receiving special education classes for this. He is a very bright child with language processing problems, socialization problems and sensory problems. He has a very difficult time with transitions and new items presented to him. I read an article in the June issue of Parent magazine regarding Sensory Integration Dysfundtion or DSI. Many of the symptoms listed apply to our son. Is there anyone out there whose child has had the diagnosis of autism and then found out it could be DSI? He is making very good progress in the school program but we would like to know if we need to go an alternative route. Thank you.
