Shunt problems are really serious. Out daughter was hard to diagnois when in full shunt block. It took a lot of work to get doctors to try to do a pressure test of the shunt itself, and low and behold thats' when they decovered that things were not great. SO she had a shunt revision. She now is back doing her own thing and is working at the hospital that thought she would need double shunting over 12 years ago. Her next surgery when it happes will be a Ventriculostomy. Because we are fortunate to have a great doctor in Calgary, who has been doing these for over 2 years with great success.My son 15, was one of the first done and he is back to everything. He also had a friend this year find out he had the same problem, and had the same thing done. They are good friends now and we are able to help them because we have been there.
