I had the Leep procedure about 2 years ago. For the first year, I had paps's done every 3 months, and the first few were abnormal, and thus I had another biopsy. That biopsy showed a small change, but nothing that required another leep, and it eventually went away. I have now had normal pap's for the past year, and still have exams every 6 months, instead of every 3. If you had an uncomfortable experience with the biopsy, you may want to ask for a sedative. I was given a Demoral (sp?), and I think this helped. Be sure you have someone to drive you hope though. After the procedure, I had mild cramping, but nothing too terrible. It helped to take the following day off work. You probably won't be able to be sexually active for a month or two, to allow yourself to heal. Because the Leep procedure is typically done due to infection by the HPV virus, be sure to have protected sex, if you do. One thing that I have noticed since the Leep is a heavy discharge during the month. After about a year of this, my doctor concluded that this may be due to the Leep. It has gotten better this year, but I would gladly put up with that than developing cancer later on! Good luck.
