Steve
To all, I have posted a note with one of the other people about this disease. My dad had it bad, but was older by the time they found out what it was. He had joint pain for a long time. He has since gotten his feritin down, but his joints were already damaged. Thankfully everything else seems to be fine. He was giving an awful lot of blood on the order of every week, for several weeks. I also have three brothers with the disease. One had a Ferritin level of over 1800, the other over 900, and I don't know where the third is at. I have Ferritin levels that are around 300, and have been tested, and told that I only had one gene for the disease (Heterozygous). The doctor told me that my other family members may hav both genes (or lack both genes rather)(Homozygous). My family lives in NY, and I live in Texas. Please email with any comments. Thanks
