Our 14 yr old daughter currently has slit ventricle syndrone and is to have surgery on Monday. In May and June she had 3 shunt revisions. She has never had many revisions or problem with shunts until this year. At 1 yr she had a shunt revision with no complications. At 11yrs. a shunt revision with no complications. Now she has had several problems. In May they replaced her shunt with an adjustable shunt which did not work for her. She continued with severe headaches and lost her coordination and balance. Two weeks later with the same symptoms the tubing was disconnected from her shunt. That was repaired but she still did not improve so they replaced the adjustable shunt with a low pressure shunt which seemed to work for her until 2 weeks ago. Now her symptoms have increased from headaches to some double vision, nausea and vomiting. So on Monday she is having another shunt revision where they are considering putting in the adjustable shunt again. If you have any questions or have any advice to share please do so. Sandy
