I just had an appointment today with the American Vein Institute in Nashville, TN. They do NOT recommend stripping, but the new method of using a hairlike needle to inject medication (NOT saline) into the varicose veins. This causes the vein walls to collapse and absorb into the body. It only takes about 20 minutes per treatment. I will only need one treatment, as mine are not (yet) what is considered serious. My cost will be $1500, but the doctor said after this initial treatment, they should never come back. And, if they do, it would be several years down the road. Anything that crops back up shortly after treatment he will treat for free.
