I wouldn't fool around, if you ask to have a test done, they should do it! If my late husband would have known at an earlier age - he could have been treated with regular weekly or monthly "blood letting".Instead it was detected to late in his life and it had affected his liver,splein and bone marrow. Also he was adopted and knew nothing of his family.So it is very important that you have the blood test done, and also your children and their sibblings in their later teen years. I won't go into any lengthy details right now,but my husband was sick for 3 yrs and it will be 2 yrs August 11th that he passed away. It is still very hard for me to talk about at times,but if it helps someone else it is worth it. Please do not ignore your concerns.
