Hi. My son is diagnosed with language learning disorder. But that is also because he has so many other factors involved to strengthen that diagnosis. He has central auditory processing disorder, deficits in expressive and written language, deficits in phonological awareness, written expression. Needs speech and language therapy, OT and the list goes on. I am just finding this out through an outside evaluation. The child can not read, write a sentence, reason math, I drill spelling words in his head. He is more or less a visual learner. He will never be book smart but can find a vocation to excel in. As far as a child with autism, they are also looking into aspergers for children whom they thought were previously autistic. They come out with something new everyday. Follow your heart on what your child needs because you are their number one source.
