Sorry to hear about that. No, anyone at any age can get shingles. I was 24 when I got shingles. It is only more common in older adults over 50. I now have PHN and have had it for over 3 years now because of doctors misdiagnosed me of having a pinched nerve. It feels like a pinched nerve but it is actually Shingles setting in, one day later after my family doctor's visit I broke out with blisters and called him and told and he said it was an allergic reaction to Tylenol3 that had codein in it but I insisted to him I was allergic to any medicine but he wouldn't listen. 3 days later as I got worse I went to my gyn and they said I had Shingles. They told me it was the worse case they'd ever seen also. So if your doctor won't listen to you I'd advse you to seek another. I no longer see my family doctor, I have a new one who is great. I had people telling me it wasn't anything either. Alot of people have no clue to what Shingles or PHN are and I'm trying to educate them about it. Hope this helps. Good luck
