Linda
I have been through a modified radical mastectomy in 1996. I have now been cancer-free for four years and am grateful for every day of my life. Every case and every person is different. My URGENT advice to you is to contact your nearest unit of the American Cancer Society. They provide advisors, group discussions and a whole lot of printed material. If you can't find a listing in your phone book, or through telephone information, I imagine they also have a web site. My other, personal, advice is to let friends and relatives know what is going on with you. Don't try to keep it secret. It is very scary, and I don't know what I would have done without the support of my family and friends, especially those of my church who were praying for me every bit of the way. Blessings to you. You will be in my prayers. (Yes, that's possible, even if I don't have a name or place. I believe that God knows what I don't.) Linda K.
