I have a 14 year old daughter who suffers from fibromuscular dysplasia. As a result of this, she has had two carotid bypass operations and now has many deficits in her behaviour as a result. She has an excessive appetite and is an insulin dependant diabetic. she is incapable of learning by her mistakes, cannot make decisions under pressure (including peer pressure) and has been sexually abused as a result. Her thought processes are affected and she has very few social graces and does not respond to social cues. I could go on longer, but won't. As you can imagine, she must be supervised 24 hours a day. Oh, did I mention she also has difficulty sleeping, sometimes being 2 or 3am before finally getting off to sleep. I am very worried and concerned, particularly as I am running out of energy myself and therefore cannot give her 100%. Does anybody out there have any info or experience with this type of problem. I would really like to hear from a neuropsychiatrist who may specialise in this field. In Australia, my info and support is limited as this is not your every day common cold or flu
