high cholesterol/trigliceride

Message 10 of 16 Previous Next

Recently had a Cholestoral test done by my cardiologist (I have high blood pressure that is corrected with medication), and the results were as follows: Total cholesterol = 152, HDL = 35, LDL = 70. This seems OK, however, when nurse called with results she said my Trigliceride level was 233 and she said that was a little high. My question is this. What are triglicerides, how do they affect a person, and is a level of 233 too high, and if so, what should I do? I am a 58 year old male CPA, who is about 50 pounds overweight, and leads a very inactive life style (had both hips replaced about 3 years ago so I can no longer jog). Would appreciate any help.
