Incontinence

Message 7 of 7 Previous

Hi, I am a 38yr old woman who has had a lifelong history of severe incontinence due to Spina Bifida. Initially my Urologist tried me on medication such as Ditropan. This did not work. Then he implanted an Artificial Sphincter in and around my bladder. This did work but then 8yrs down the road, for some reason this device eroded, fell down, and caused several holes through my vagina which were repaired. At that point a procedure called Urethral Sling was done. This did help with my incontinence but not enough. When I was 16yrs old my Urologist who was the Head of Urology suggested I go into the Ontario Crippled Childrens Center for two days to learn how to do Self Catheterization. I am now 38 and I still do this. I do realize that we both probably have different reasons which caused our incontinence, but these methods of trying to correct this problem do work for some people. If you wish to contact me, please feel free to contact me at Moonbaby@sprint.ca My name is Trish. I sincerely wish you "all the best". Take Care!
