Read your message. I was diagnosed with RSD in 1995 and it has been a recurring problem since then. I was hospitalized for a month and received stellate ganglion blocks for the pain. This helped greatly at the time. I had RSD for 3 months before it was diagnosed. By that time my arm was atrophied and I was in severe pain and unable to either dress or bathe myself or go outside due to the wind. Any tiny change or movement brought immense pain. It was supposedly brought on by a viral infection. After the blocks, I was treated with a number of prescriptions. What has helped was Carbamazepine in a 400 mg. dose every 8 hours. This helped for 5 years. Unfortunately, I became immune and have had trouble locating something else. Fortunately, it isn't debillitating on a daily basis. It seems to come and go about every 4 months or so. I am now using "Neurontin" and this is working. However, it is not covered by prescription services as it is for grand mal epilepsy and I do not have epilepsy. Hope this helps. Good luck to you.
