Jennifer, My daughter is a diabetic and often gets boils. She had a boil on the inside of her thigh that became infected and the infection spread to the blood stream very fast. She was admitted in the hospital on Wednesday for cellulitus By Friday she was moved to ICU because her body was shutting down. The antibiotics weren't working. On Saturday it had turned gangerine and it had to be removed . The area was a very large area. It was from hip to hip six inches deep and all the way up to her navel. Thank God she had a very good doctor. She spent three weeks in the hospital in our hometown but as rime went by she was getting worse. The doctor told us if she was going to live we had to find someone who could close the wound. She was transferred to UTMB in Galveston, Tx. Where she was put in the Burn Unit ICU. The doctors there worked very hard to save her life and that they did do. They had to do skin grafting on the wound area. That was so painful for her. They grafted of her leg and thigh. She had so many blood transfusuions and it was really a nightmare for our family knowing we couldn't do a damn thing for her. She was youn and had her whole life a head of her. Thru the grace of God we just had our one year anniversary from her first life threatening surgery. She still has to have more surgery but because she had 3 major surgeries in a two month span they wanted to build up her body. She vomited for three months straight because of this illness. I know its hard on a family when this stuff takes over your life. But find a good doctor and pray. Miracles do happen. The doctors said my daughter wouldn't make it.But look at us now
