My mother has been suffering from Parkinson's for about 20 years. Right now her major problem is the accumulation of saliva in her mouth and her inability to swallow it; therefore she is constantly spitting and spends hours by the sink rinsing her mouth. I believe this happens because she momentarily looses her ability to use the muscles needed for swallowing. This drives her (and those around her) crazy. Is there anything that can help her? Medicine, therapy? Anything.
