The most common are closed angle-the eye is built too small and open angle-which can consist of high tension or normal tension or actually one called low tension glaucoma. They feel genetics plays a big part. See someone who specializes in glaucoma not a general ophthalmologist. You want someone who has done a fellowship in the glaucoma field. The damage is monitored by taking pictures of the back of the eye and a visual field test.
