My 83-yr old mother who has been diagnosed as having Alzheimer's has now been diagnosed as having hydrocephalus and now I am trying to find out if her brain shrinkage and the Alzheimer's is being caused by the hydrocephalus and if the surgeon inserts a shunt will the Alzheimer's go away? From what I've read, this is highly unusual for someone her age and I am having trouble finding a neuro surgeon who will take her insurance.
