The first French national to contract Ebola has been cured of the deadly virus, health officials said.
The Doctors Without Borders nurse — who came down with Ebola while volunteering in Liberia — “is now cured and has left the hospital,” Marisol Touraine, France’s health minister, said Saturday.
The unidentified nurse was airlifted from Africa to France on Sept. 19 for treatment and spent weeks in isolation receiving experimental treatment.
There is no cure for Ebola yet, but some drug makers are in the early stages of developing some treatments.
