In a proposed rule, the FDA requires restaurants and similar retail food establishments that are a part of a chain with 20 or more locations doing business under the same name, and offering for sale the same menu items, provide calorie and other nutrition information for standard menu items, including food on display and self-service food. It is nice to see the FDA at last getting involved but but what about all the junk food sold in movie theaters, casinos, bowling alleys, stadiums, hotels, airlines and superstore delis, all of which are exempt at the moment. Surely they too should be included?
