Anti-smoking pill Chantix may receive new warnings from U.S. regulators after a study found the drug increased the risk of hospitalizations for heart problems by 72 percent.
Since the FDA warned in 2009 that Chantix may increase suicides and erratic behavior Chantix revenue has declined. Last month a warning was added by regulators for patients with a history of heart disease, based on a 700-patient study. This latest analysis shows the greatest increased risk may be among patients with no signs of heart problems. There may be safer ways to stop smoking than taking Chantix?
