A weight loss drug Acomplia,should not be taken by people on antidepressants, the European Medicines Agency (EMEA) has warned. The EMEA found that the risk of developing depression doubled in those taking Acomplia, following a review of available information on the safety of the drug, “particularly with relation to the medicine's psychiatric safety. It concluded that although Acomplia’s benefits continue to outweigh its risks, patients with ongoing major depression or who are receiving antidepressant treatment should not be prescribed the drug.
