Hello Shar & others, I was just reading some of your messages, most seemed to be 2001 so wondered how you are going now. I am 72yrs & into my seventh year of PMR. have had six attempts to get off prednisolone & recently, after 10 weeks off it completely, had no option but to go back onto it. I had suffered terribly for seven months but felt I could beat the drug. (My doctor wanted me off it because it was affecting my kidney & liver functions). But the drug won the battle & in two days I was out of pain, such is its power! Had to go to 20mg, down to 15mg & am now on 10mg. I can never again put myself through that agony for so long in an effort to get off it. My advice is to defineately be content to sit on 5mg if you can get that low. I am still hopeful it will suddenly leave me...I believe the trauma of a car accident I had could have brought it on. Good luck to those out there with this terrible condition that cannot be understood by anyone who knows nothing about it. June 2006.
