Help! My husband had his tonsils out 7 days ago. He is 30. Day 2 after the surgery we went back to the ER for a viral infection in his throat. Day 5 we went back for a little bleeding. He has been in excrutiating pain each day. I have called the doctor and the upped his frequency of Vicodin, then gave him Norco which is extra strength Vicodin. They don't seem to be working. He is drinking fluids, eating popsicles, icing his throat, sucking on Cepacol lozenges... nothing seems to be alleviating the pain. The doctor's office seems to be annoyed with my calls. I don't know what else to do. I think he needs a different pain med.When should the pain begin to subside? Is this normal? Any advice??
