Hi. I found out yesterday I have to have my tonsils out. I'm 29 and have suffered with the wretched things since I was 5. I mean so badly that I had to think twice about turning the air conditioning on at home. It had to be really really hot for me to do this. The cold air would cause a sore throat overnight. Oh yeah and forget going barefoot...that too swoll my tonsils. Geez just about anything made me get swollen tonsils. I'm actually looking forward to it. I would love to have the rest of my life free of sore throats, tonsil stones (which are so gross!)and enlarged tonsils. My ENT cracked a joke that he could play golf with my tonsils they are so huge. Nice right?! From everyone's posts, I guess a lot of pain can be expected and the presence of blood. Ewww...not looking forward to that. I'm a single chick and don't live with someone. How long do you need to have 24 hour care? My brother travels the country for a living and will stay with me but, I would like to have an idea how long he needs to take off. I have friends who can spend the nights with me after he leaves but, what about the days? Am I even going to have the energy to get a shower after surgery? Or am I going to be walking around? I already have a script for a Percocet Elixir so I will be drugged up (woohoo!). Any advice you can give will be most appreciated! Thanks! Lizz.
