Diet after gall bladder surgery

Dl Cook

Message 1 of 1

Just had my gall bladder removed a few weeks ago, had a loss of appetite, no food appealed to me. I'd had a problem with my gb for over 3 years before having the surgery. I had lots of pain and had to watch everything I ate. I got by the 3 years by not eating pork, beef, or anything that comes from a cow. I was told by the Dr that now I can eat anything I want to. Like so many of you have posted that is wrong. I did eat my first hamburger in over three years. I didn't hurt me at all and I had no diarrhea. Same with the second burger the next day. However, at a cookout I ate one, had nausea, indigestion and was running for the restroom within 45 minutes. The next day I ate a leftover burger from the cookout, but I took a zantac and had no nausea, indigestion or diarrhea. Tried it again tonight, took a zantac, ate a burger, had no problem. Maybe it's all the acid along with the bile that gives the trouble. My mom had hers removed years ago and she eats anything she wants. Appearently it affects everyone differently.I wish someone in the medical field would help us out on this with a little more information. I'm no expert but if I were to give advise, if you have to loose your gb (if it's not working it can cause infection and give you more trouble than pain and diarrhea). Avoid really greasy foods, otherwise eat what you want in small quantities. Remember, your gb dumped bile into your system to help digest fatty foods, now you have a steady drip instead of one big flush.
