I just read the 32 messages looking for an answer to my problem with chronic bursitis of the hip. I walk but it's painful. I've had several cortizone injections which didn't help. I also take Bextra, tylenol and Glucosamine Sulfate. Physical Therapy didn't help and massage made it worse. I went to a local acupuncture clinic and after a year of pain which really limited my activity, I felt like a miracle had happened. It was supervised by a Japanese acupuncturist named Kiiko Matsumoto (I think she has a practice in Boston.) I felt relief immediately and had another treatment by Kiiko herself the following week as a demonstration in front of the students. The bursitis completely went away for two months and I felt like a new woman. It returned as suddenly as it had left. Since Kiiko is not in my city, I tried acupuncture but not the "Kiiko" style. It did nothing. I then called the teaching institute in my city and asked if there is an acupuncturist here who practices Kiiko style. I was referred to someone and had my first treatment last week. It helped considerably and I plan to get several more treatments. I think Kiiko Matsumoto is fairly well known in the acupuncture world so you might see if anyone practices that type of acupuncture in your city. I've suffered from osteoarthritis in my knees and lower back for years but that's nothing compared to the bursitis. I'm also going to try the L-Glutamine that has helped some of you. Thanks, Lo
