I am not certain if Gamma Knife treatment may be of value to your beloved but it is a "knifeless" brain (skull areas) proceedure that I received total relief from Trigeminal Neuralgia and the machine was originally designed to shrink tumors (benign or malignant) but is now being used to treat other issues, such as acoustin nueromas, et. al. San Diego Gamma Knife (.com, I believe) is on the web and has a great amount of info attached to it. This happens to be where I rec'd. treatment but there are many other sites nationally.
