I was so encouraged to read the letter on Selective Mutism. My son was diagnosed (finally!) last year. He is now 6 years old and doing much better. I know we still have a long uphill battle (every new person, new class is a new struggle for him) but it gives me hope when I hear that a selectively mute child gave a speech in an honors class. I know my son is highly intelligent,I just wish everyone else could see what I see.
